John J. Federico has worked in the lobbying field in Kansas since 1994.  Upon graduating from the Washburn University School of Law, Federico went to work for Pete McGill & Associates.  In 1997, Federico left McGill and started Federico Consulting, Inc.: A Public Affairs Group.  

In 2015, Stephen Duerst began working with Federico.  In 2020, Duerst became a named partner, and the firm officially changed its name to Federico // Duerst Consulting Group, and is now considered to be one of the premier lobbying firms in the state.
